I took everything down
On June 29, 2026, I took the blog offline.
It wasn’t a bug. It wasn’t hosting. It was a decision.
For years this domain ran a WordPress that had been everything: diary, portfolio, lab, archive. Good posts mixed with posts I barely remembered writing. Plugins piled up. A theme that solved one problem and created three. A collection that grew more by inertia than by intention.
I looked at it and no longer recognized the mission.
Why leave WordPress
WordPress works. It always has. But the blog had turned into maintenance: update, theme, plugin, backup, theme again. I spent more time tending the tool than writing.
I wanted something simpler. Text files. Version control. Static builds. Publishing without carrying an entire CMS on my back.
Hugo fits that. Markdown in Git, generated site, direct deploy. No bloated dashboard. No surprise plugin breaking in the middle of the night.
It wasn’t an anti-WordPress religious conversion. It was getting tired of carrying weight that no longer served what I wanted to do here.
Clearing the table
The temptation was to migrate everything: export, convert, republish, pretend continuity.
I did the opposite. I took everything down.
The domain stayed. The history stayed — this address has existed since 1998. The old archive did not. At least not automatically.
Because a real restart needs blank space. If I had brought the entire collection on day one, I would only be changing CMS. It would still be the same blog, with a different shell.
What comes back — and what is born
From here on, two tracks.
New things. What I am living now: public service, code, infrastructure, education, open source, the stories that show up along the way. No formula. No forced editorial calendar.
Old things — with a filter. I will reread what I already wrote. What still fits this mission comes back. What was only noise, a fad of the time, or text I would not defend today, stays behind.
Republishing is not nostalgia. It is curation. If the old text still speaks to what this space wants to be, it deserves to return. If not, silence is more honest.
A new mission, in the same house
This domain has been many things. It will keep being a personal space about technology — only more deliberate. Less accumulation. More intention.
In 2018 I had already restarted once. In 2026, I restart again: a lighter stack, an archive under review, and the patience to build the blog post by post.
If you arrived here expecting the old archive intact, it is not here. Yet. Maybe part of it will return. Maybe another part deserves to live only in memory.
For now, the table is clear. And that, for me, is already the right beginning.
